We have more at Westdale than we had at AOB

By lcauditor

I’ve heard a couple of people make statements indicating the County offices located at Westdale Mall are the same offices as those formerly located in the Administrative Office Building (AOB).  In other words, the County already had a one-stop shop.  That’s not true.

The facts are:

1.  The vast majority of the offices and staff formerly located in the AOB are at Westdale Mall.

2.  The Board of Supervisors and some of their direct staff (Budget & Finance, HR, and Risk Management) are located in the Palmer Building.  Pre-flood they were located in the AOB.

3.  The vast majority of offices and staff (MHDD, CORE, and General Services) formerly located in the Witwer Building are located at Westdale Mall.

4.  The Home Health office and staff are located in Westdale Mall.  They were formerly located in a building next to Coopers Mill on Ellis Boulevard.

5.  The Veterans Affairs office and staff are located in Westdale Mall.  They were formerly located in the O’Brien Building next to the Elections Depot.

While some may think I’m quibbling about something insignificant.  I think it’s important for all of us to get the facts straight.  Westdale Mall is still not a one-stop shop for the County, but depending on what services you are requesting from the County, we may be closer to being one now than we were when we occupied the AOB.
