Election day registrations didn’t set a record

For all of the hoopla surrounding the new election day registration law, we didn’t break any records in Linn County.  Only 17 voters registered to vote for the first time on election day.  Nevertheless, that’s 17 voters whose votes were counted in this election.  And that’s a good thing!

On July 29th, I received a report indicating the actual number of EDRs (election day registrations) for the June 3rd election was 61.

Originally, the tally on the election kit envelopes indicated 17 EDRs; however, 44 additional EDRs were found when the election registers were processed.
