#BOSvacancy decision maybe tomorrow

April 21, 2016

Do not be surprised if the decision on who to appoint is made tomorrow (4/22) at the 1pm meeting. It may be your last chance to comment. That’s my conclusion after listening to Treasurer Gonzalez’s public comments today.

Fyi,

Joel D Miller, Auditor

Dear Linn County Supervisor District 2 Appointment Committee,

I am writing in support of Ron Olson to be appointed to the Board of Supervisors District 2 vacancy. I have had opportunity to work with Ron on the Eastern Iowa United Way Board of Directors as well as when he was chairman of the 2013 United Way campaign and successfully put together a labor/contractor leadership challenge grant for the campaign that year. Ron far exceeded expectations as the chair and helped raise millions of dollars that went back into our communities. I also know of his reputation as a community leader both in his volunteer work and as a successful business person in his role at Paulson Electric Company. His construction experience would add expertise in that area to the Board of Supervisors. I feel that without a doubt Ron is highly qualified to fill this interim Board of Supervisors vacancy and therefore is an excellent candidate for this position. Thank you for your consideration.

To whom it may concern,

Thank you for taking the time to entertain my email. My name is Patrick Loeffler, Assistant Director of NCSRCC ( Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota), Business Agent for Carpenters Local 308 and President of Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Building Trades Council. This email is in regards to Ron Olson and the interim Linn County Supervisors position. Though the past years I have had the opportunity to work with Ron on many different community events. United Way Campaign a few years ago, just to mention. Ron sold me on his commitment to this Community and the people he dealt with, not an easy task. A true professional. I highly support and recommend Ron for this interim position. I know his reputation in the community both as a business leader and community volunteer. His experience in dealing with constituencies as an elected member of the Cedar Rapids Board of Education for 12 years would serve him well in this position. His background in construction would be an asset to the current Board of Supervisors. Once again thank you for your time and consideration of Ron Olson for this important position.

Sincerely

Patrick Loeffler

President Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Building Trades Council
